Letterese was born and raised in Morristown, where he attended high school as a tri-sport athlete with participation on the swimming, football and basketball teams, his obituary says.
Letterese was known for his incredible leadership capabilities and received the Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award in his junior year, his obit says.
He pursued higher education at Vanderbilt University, where he graduated with an Economics degree in 2012, his memorial says.
After spending some time working in Madison, WI, Letterese moved back to New York City in 2014 and had been working as Sales Director at Upsolver at the time of his death, his obit says.
During his downtime, Letterese loved spending time with his many close friends and family members.
“Alex was an extraordinary son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend,” reads his tribute. “He made us want to be kinder, more loving, and easy going.”
Letterese is survived by his parents, Anne Lincoln Curtis and Michael Letterese; his sisters, Christina McIlroy and Abigail Dobbins; his girlfriend, Claudia; as well as numerous extended family members and close friends.
A celebration of Letterese’s life will be scheduled sometime next year.
